Take It Further Challenge Jan 7, 2008

The new Year is a week old and I have been trying to decide how to interpret the concept of admiration. I’m drawing a blank!! So, I have decided, this month to work with the color palette instead. As a quilter, this is NOT a palette I would pick – although it might look much better in prints rather than plain fabrics.

I will be working on 32 count Belfast linen in antique ivory. I am stitching a linen book, with a stitched cover, spine and pages. This month, I am stitching a bargello design, with 6 strands of DMC cotton floss. I may decide to throw in some extra elements as well, We’ll see.

This is my work so far on page one.WIP - Jan 7, 2008

The brown stitching line is my backstitched outline around the current page and, what will become page 12 when it’s all put together. I am currently obsessed with these stitched books in all sizes. They seem to me to be the ideal thing to use for projects like this challenge and for samplers etc. The pages will be whip stitched together, once completed and mat board will be inserted inside each page.

TIF Cover in progress

The above photo is the front and back cover, in progress as well. The scan makes it look crooked, buy it’s really not. The thread is DMC Cordonette crochet cotton, that I hand dyed several years ago. It’s approximately 12 weight.

Happy Stitching, everyone.
